Cypress, Calif. - Sophomore Jessica Reichner scored twice and drove in a pair of runs to help lead Cypress College to a 9-1 victory over Long Beach City College in its season opener on Tuesday.

Freshman pitcher Stephanie Luhmann no-hit the Vikings for three innings to earn her first victory in a Charger uniform. Courtney McGee, Mallory Campbell and Arren Nunez also drove in runs in Cypress' victory.

The Chargers took an early lead with a pair of runs in bottom of the first, then added two more in the second inning to go up 3-0, before blowing the game wide open with a six-run third inning that sealed the win for the two-time defending state champions.

Cypress looks to push its record to 2-0 on Wednesday when it travels to East L.A. for a 3 p.m. non-conference road game.
